New Atlanta Writers Group

Atlanta, GA--Writers, speakers and other industry professionals unite to form a new group.  The Atlanta Writers Group was formed on March 30th, 2006 to encourage, develop and promote writers in the Atlanta Metropolitan and surrounding areas.  It is a volunteer-based organization that works to increase public awareness of local literary talent.

The executive director, Dr. Leslie Ann Dauphin,  a local scientist, author and freelance health columnist, founded the group because of writing inquiries from members in the community.  Many aspiring writers solicited her help for writing and publishing their first books and articles.  A former teacher with a heart for mentoring, Dr. Dauphin felt compelled to form a group to allow aspiring writers to network with seasoned professionals.  Since forming the group she has received great interest from members of the community.

The Atlanta Writers Group is comprised of writers of all genres.  The group will encourage mentoring and fellowship among writers as well as conduct training through workshops and conferences.  It will promote authors through showcases, sponsored signings and other forms of publicity.
